MY STORY
Â
Maryam Greenidge is a an attorney who always loved traveling and learning about different cultures. She has lived in both Colombia and Italy. When she opened her law practice, she felt the impact of trying to provide health insurance for herself and her team. As a result, any time she went to the doctor or the dentist, she had to pay out of pocket—costing thousands of dollars a year just to be healthy. However, when she visited Colombia a few years ago, she decided to venture to see a dentist that came recommended by a Colombian friend. That visit to the dentist is first when she was exposed to the ease of receiving healthcare abroad. There was no administrative hurdles or bureaucratic red tape, rather she was seen immediately and was able to get care the same day as her consultation. From there, she began to invite family members who were uninsured to come to Colombia to see physicians and doctors. She has facilitated a team of some of the best-skilled doctors and dentist in Barranquilla, Colombia to provide treatment to Americans traveling to Colombia for care.
